BLUEGILL

Bluegills get their names from the prominent dark blue spot that they have on their gills. Despite this common trait, Bluegills are extremely variable and come in many different colors. The colors are especially vivid in male Bluegills when they are spawning. With their small mouths, these fish can feed on insects, worms, shrimp and minnows.
