Geographic Range: Western Central Pacific: Andaman Sea to Malacca Strait, possibly China Sea to Philippines. Habitat: Lives in reefs with soft corals and sponges, and in depths over 20m. Diet: Carnivorous feeding on small crustaceans and plankton which it catches using its elongated jaw to suck in the prey item, frequently causing a “snicking” sound. Fun Fact: Usually found in pairs, this species is monogamous. This species is distinctive in their bright yellow color.
