Geographic Range: Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. Some found near Hawaii and Japan Habitat: Lives in coral reefs, patch reef, and rocky tropical areas preferring water temperatures of 24 to 26 degrees C (75-79 F).
Diet: Herbivorous feeding in algae in groups
Fun Fact: The horn-like appendage between their eyes that gives them the name “Unicorn Fish” begins growing when a young fish reaches about 13 cm (5 in) in length. Males tend to have a horn a little longer than females. They are generally not aggressive to each other but when they do fight they use sharp scalpels by their tails as weapons, not their horns.
