Spotted Gars are primitive fish native to North America. They are ambush predators that feed on smaller fish and crustaceans. Spotted Gars only spawn during warm temperatures, typically in April, May or June. Females can have multiple partners and lay an average of 13,000 eggs! Spotted Gars are also a protected species in Michigan.
